First steps
An arena from the admin menu, a first drill, and a first duel.
Everything below happens in menus. The only thing typed is the arena's id.
Creating an arena
Open the admin menu
/aimtraineradmin (or /aimadmin) with exyliaaimtrainer.admin. The overview shows how many
arenas exist, how many are ready, and how many duels and drills are running.
Create it
Arenas → New arena. Type a short id such as aim1; it is stored lowercased and refused if
it already exists. The arena is created enabled, named after what you typed, with no spawn yet.
Name it
On the arena screen, Display name asks for what players see. Colours are allowed, 64 characters at most.
Set the spawn
Click Spawn, then stand where it goes and face the open space: the targets appear in the direction the spawn looks. The wizard stores your position and rotation.
Check it reads ready
An arena is ready when it is enabled and its spawn is set in a loaded world. The arena list shows
every arena as READY or INCOMPLETE.
Solo drills need a ready arena as much as duels do. Without one, /aim train and every drill button
answer "No arena is ready. Ask an administrator."
An arena is a place, not a slot. Any number of drills and duels share it: every player in it is
invisible to everyone else and sees only their own targets. When there are several, each new drill or
duel goes to the ready arena hosting the fewest players. arena.max-players-per-arena caps that count
(a drill is one player, a duel two); the default, 0, is no cap.
A first drill
Open the menu
/aim (or /aimtrainer, /at) opens the main menu. Click Drills.
Pick a drill
Each row shows what the drill trains, how long it runs and your best rating in it. Clicking starts
it: you are sent to the arena, your inventory is saved and emptied, you are put in adventure mode,
and a countdown of training.countdown seconds runs, 3 by default.
Punch the air to start now
A swing during the countdown skips it. Then shoot with left click.
Read the result
When the drill ends you stay in the arena with the summary on screen for training.rest-seconds, 5
by default. Play again, on the summary or the hotbar, plays it again with your current settings;
the hotbar also has Change drill, Settings and Leave on right click. When the rest runs
out and you are not in a screen you opened, you are sent back where you came from, with your
inventory.
/aim train [drill] does the same without the menu — with no name it starts training.default-drill,
gridshot by default — and /aim leave ends a drill at any point.
/aim settings sets target size and distance as multipliers of the drill, colour and style, and which
parts of the HUD you want. Smaller and farther targets raise the difficulty, and the difficulty
multiplies the rating the boards rank. Changes apply from the next drill. See
Settings.
A first duel
Pick an opponent
/aim → Duel lists everyone online you can see, free players first; busy ones cannot be
clicked.
Pick the settings
On the opponent's screen choose a best-of format, then click a drill. That click sends the request.
The other side accepts
They receive a centred prompt with clickable Accept and Decline buttons, or run
/aim accept or /aim deny. The request expires after match.duel-request-expiry seconds, 30 by
default.
Play the rounds
Both players are sent to an arena and a countdown runs; each punches the air to be ready, and the round starts as soon as both have. Both shoot the same targets in the same places, and the higher score takes the round. See Duels for ties and formats.
/aim duel <player> [drill] [bestOf] sends a request straight from the command line. Without a drill
it uses the first one in config.yml, without a format match.default-format.
