Configuring

Showcases

Places that perform emotes on their own, one after another, cast with the players standing nearby.

A showcase is a spot that performs emotes by itself, over and over, for whoever walks past: a lobby centrepiece rather than something a player asked for. Nobody is performing. The body wears the skin of a player standing nearby, so the crowd watching is the cast.

Setting one up

/emotesadmin showcase add

Writes where you stand to showcase.locations in config.yml and starts it at once. Place as many as you like.

CommandWhat it does
showcase addPlays emotes on a loop where you stand.
showcase removeRemoves the showcase nearest you, up to five blocks away. Alias: showcase delete.
showcase listPrints every showcase.
showcase clearRemoves all of them.

What it plays

Every place is checked once a second, on its own region:

Is anybody watching?

Only players within showcase.radius — 24 blocks by default — count. With nobody that close nothing plays, so an empty lobby costs one distance check a second.

Pick an emote

At random from showcase.emotes, or from the whole catalogue when that list is empty — never the one that just played, unless it is the only one.

Pick a cast

One watcher at random lends the body their skin, and the body turns to face another one, so a showcase between two players has one of them waving at the other.

Rest

A one-shot emote plays to its end; an endless one is shown for eight seconds and then ended. Then showcase.pause-seconds — three by default — before the next.

Only the players within radius see it.

What it never plays

Left outWhy
DuetsA showcase plays one body at one spot. Half a handshake is a body reaching out at nothing, so duets are never picked, whatever showcase.emotes lists.
[CAMERA] linesA decoration must never take the eyes of somebody who only walked past it.
[COMMAND], [POTION], [TITLE], [ACTION_BAR], [MESSAGE]They act on a real player rather than drawing something.

What is left is scenery: the body, its sounds, and whatever props are drawn around it.

KeyDefaultWhat it does
locations[]Where emotes play on a loop, as server, world,x,y,z,yaw, pitch. Set them with showcase add.
pause-seconds3.0The rest between one emote ending and the next starting.
radius24.0How close a player has to be for a showcase to play and to see it, in blocks.
emotes[]The emote ids a showcase picks from. Empty picks from every solo emote.

A location in a world that is not loaded yet is logged and starts the moment that world loads — a hub a world manager brings up after the plugin works as expected. /emotesadmin reload restarts every showcase.
