Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most, answered from the code.
The plugin does not start
Check the console for ExyliaLib, FastAsyncWorldEdit or packetevents. All three are required.
The event will not start
The setup screen lists what is missing. A configuration needs a lobby spawn, a spectator spawn, at least one spawn point and complete bounds — and it needs to be enabled.
If all of that is set, look at the limits: max-events-total, max-events-waiting and
max-events-per-player in config.yml can all refuse a start, as can a start cooldown.
Pillars of Fortune says it needs more spawn points
It gives each player their own pillar, so it needs as many spawn points as max-players. Lower the
maximum or add spawn points; the message says how many you have and how many are needed.
The arena is not restored between games
Save the schematic from the setup screen. Restoring pastes event_bounds_<id> back over the bounds,
and without that file there is nothing to paste.
Do I lose my events when I update the plugin? Where are they stored?
No. ExyliaEvents keeps its event configurations — arenas, settings, kits, rewards — and each server's
main lobby in its database, not in a file the jar replaces. The database is set in
plugins/ExyliaEvents/database.yml; by default it is embedded H2, a file at
plugins/ExyliaEvents/database/h2 (the engine adds its own extension). Replacing the jar leaves all
of it in place.
The arena schematics are the exception: each event_bounds_<id>.schem lives on the server's disk, in
plugins/ExyliaEvents/schematics/ (older installs may still have some in schematics/regions/, which
is read too). Keep that folder when you update or move the server. A second server pointed at the same
database gets the configurations but still needs those .schem files to restore or clone an arena.
Before a risky change, /eventsadmin export dumps every table into plugins/ExyliaEvents/dumps/.
Brackets or Build Battle only run one match
Both clone the arena into the auto world, and cloning needs the schematic too. Check the console at startup: if the auto world failed to initialise it says so, and the event falls back to the configuration's own spawns.
Spleef or TNT Run does nothing when I break a block
Those types look for specific materials. Spleef breaks SNOW_BLOCK; TNT Run removes a floor block
only when there is TNT directly beneath it. The full list is in
Arenas.
Players are not eliminated when they fall
Most falling games eliminate on contact with WATER, not on the void. Put water under the arena.
A player cannot join, and says they are busy
Events share a claim registry with the other Exylia plugins. A player in an FFA arena, a practice queue or the sandbox is held by that plugin and cannot be pulled into an event until they leave it.
Only some players can join my event
The sign-up list is probably open for that configuration. /eventsadmin inscriptions close <id> lifts
it. See Sign-ups.
Players in one world cannot join
world-restrictions in config.yml. BLACKLIST refuses the listed worlds, WHITELIST allows only
them, and exyliaevents.world.bypass ignores the rule.
Commands are blocked inside an event
That is command-whitelist, on by default. Add what you need to the list, or grant
exyliaevents.bypass.blocked-commands to staff.
Rewards were not given
Two causes. reward-commands.only-on-random-events set to true means the global commands only run
for automatically started events. And a player who was offline at the end has their rewards queued
instead — they arrive on their next join.
Is TAB required?
No. Sidebars work without it, and the games that hide names do it through a scoreboard team instead. With TAB installed, TAB hides and restores those names, and a player leaving an event gets their normal TAB scoreboard back.
Can events run at the same time?
Yes, subject to max-events-total. With player-isolation on, the default, everybody in an event is
hidden from everybody outside it, so two arenas near each other do not show each other's games.
Starting from the console gives a different event than starting in game
Same configuration, different kit. With two or more kits, a player starting it picks the kit from a
menu; the console cannot, so the event starts with no kit and CTF-style types fall back to their
default-kit gear. Keep a single kit in the configuration to get the same result from both. See
Kits.
Players cannot choose their kit
By design: the kit is one per event, picked by whoever starts it, and everybody gets the same one. There is no per-player kit selector.
Players cannot choose their team
Check that team-selector-enabled is true in the configuration and that the players actually
joined the event, not only the server lobby. The selector is a compass in the last hotbar slot: a
lobby-item, hotbar or per-world inventory plugin writing to that slot removes it.
A rank should only be able to host some events
Give it exyliaevents.start.<configId> for each of them rather than exyliaevents.start. See
Commands and permissions.
Does it work on Folia?
Yes. On Folia the auto world is created through the Worlds plugin, because Bukkit's own world creation is not available there.
Where do I get support?
On the Exylia Discord. Licences are handled there too.
