Equipment
The armour, weapon, off hand, knockback and potion buffs a bot wears, where its first kit comes from, and what each one changes in a fight.
A bot is dressed by fourteen settings: four armour pieces, an enchantment for each of them, a weapon,
an off hand, a knockback level, strength, speed and fire resistance. Every one of them is a button in
/bot — the armour column down the left of the main menu, the hands down the right, fire resistance
in Fine tuning. Nothing here is a number you have to balance: the mode you pick already dressed
the bot, and these are the pieces you change afterwards.
What you can change
| Setting | Values | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots | NONE, DIAMOND, NETHERITE | Main menu, left-click the piece |
| The enchantment on each piece | NONE, PROTECTION, BLAST_PROTECTION | Main menu, right-click the piece |
| Main hand | SWORD, AXE, MACE, TOTEM | Main menu, left-click Main hand |
| Knockback on that weapon | NONE, KNOCKBACK_1, KNOCKBACK_2 | Main menu, right-click Main hand |
| Off hand | NONE, TOTEM, SHIELD | Main menu, Off hand |
| Strength | NONE, STRENGTH_1, STRENGTH_2 | Main menu, left-click Potions |
| Speed | NONE, SPEED_1, SPEED_2 | Main menu, right-click Potions |
| Fire resistance | on or off | Fine tuning |
Every button steps forward through its list and wraps around at the end, so a piece you overshot is
three more clicks away rather than a menu away. The names you read on the buttons — Diamond,
Protection IV, Strength II — are labels in messages.yml and can be renamed or recoloured; the
values above are the ones the plugin stores.
Where the first kit comes from
A player who has never opened /bot is dressed by whatever bot.mode says in config.yml. Each mode
has one kit, and it is the kit that mode is balanced around:
| Mode | Armour | Enchantment | Main hand | Off hand | Strength | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
NONE | Diamond | Protection | Sword | Shield | — | — |
SWORD | Diamond | Protection | Sword | Shield | — | — |
POT_PVP | Diamond | Protection | Sword | Shield | Strength II | Speed II |
UHC | Diamond | Protection | Axe | Shield | — | — |
CRYSTAL_PVP | Netherite | Blast Protection | Sword | Totem | — | — |
MACE_PVP | Netherite | Protection | Mace | Totem | — | — |
BOXING | — | — | Sword | — | — | — |
A kit is uniform: all four pieces are the same tier with the same enchantment, which is what makes picking a mode one decision instead of eight. Mixing tiers afterwards is a per-piece choice and stays one. Two of the kits are deliberately bare — UHC carries no potion buffs because in UHC what you drink is what you brewed, and boxing wears no armour and holds nothing in the off hand because nobody is taking damage.
The kit is applied when a player's settings are first created and every time they are reset. Cycling
Mode in the menu afterwards changes the techniques the bot fights with and leaves the gear exactly
as you left it. If you want a mode's own kit back, use Reset settings or
/bot reset — that puts every setting back to the server default,
kit included.
Armour
Three tiers per slot, chosen per slot.
| Value | What goes on the bot |
|---|---|
NONE | The slot is left empty. |
DIAMOND | The diamond piece for that slot. |
NETHERITE | The netherite piece for that slot. |
Every piece is unbreakable, so a long session never wears the bot's kit down.
Enchantment
One enchantment per piece, at level IV.
| Value | What goes on the piece |
|---|---|
NONE | Nothing. |
PROTECTION | Protection IV. |
BLAST_PROTECTION | Blast Protection IV — what a crystal fight is fought in. |
Main hand
The weapon decides how often the bot may swing, because the bot waits for its attack bar the way a player does. Every shipped mode fights under modern combat rules, so the cooldown below is the real one.
| Value | Item | Full charge |
|---|---|---|
SWORD | Netherite sword | 12.5 ticks |
AXE | Netherite axe | 20 ticks |
MACE | Mace | 33.3 ticks |
TOTEM | Totem of Undying | 4 ticks |
Three of them change more than the cadence:
- An axe breaks a raised shield, and the bot knows it — this is the weapon the UHC kit carries.
- A mace earns the vanilla smash bonus when the bot lands on you from a height, which is the whole
of
MACE_PVP. - A totem is not a weapon. The bot holds it, hits for almost nothing and swings four times a second, which is a bot that is there to be hit.
The weapon is built unbreakable with Unbreaking III. Attack damage is not read off the item: it is the
attack_damage slider in Fine tuning, and the cooldown scaling and critical hits vanilla applies
go on top of it.
Knockback
Knockback is an enchantment on the weapon, so it moves with the weapon.
| Value | Level |
|---|---|
NONE | Not enchanted at all |
KNOCKBACK_1 | Knockback I |
KNOCKBACK_2 | Knockback II |
Off hand
| Value | What the bot holds | What it means |
|---|---|---|
NONE | Nothing | Boxing carries nothing there, and neither does anybody who wants their movement. |
TOTEM | Totem of Undying | The bot pops it and re-arms from its totem reserve. |
SHIELD | An unbreakable shield | Raised and dropped on a timer, so it can be read — and disabled by your axe for the number of seconds in shield_disable. |
How many spare totems the bot re-arms with is the totems slider in Fine tuning, not a setting on
this page; see Limits.
Strength and Speed
Both are the vanilla potions, applied to the bot permanently and shown on it — the swirls are how an opponent knows what they are fighting.
| Value | Effect | What it does |
|---|---|---|
NONE | — | The effect is removed. |
STRENGTH_1 | Strength I | +3 damage on every hit. |
STRENGTH_2 | Strength II | +6 damage on every hit. |
SPEED_1 | Speed I | Moves 1.2× as fast. |
SPEED_2 | Speed II | Moves 1.4× as fast. |
The damage and the movement are applied by the AI itself, exactly as the potion would; the effect on the bot exists so you can see it.
POT_PVP is the only shipped kit that starts with either of them, and it starts with both at level II.
Fire resistance
A permanent Fire Resistance effect, toggled from Fine tuning. No shipped kit starts with it — it is
there for a sandbox where lava is part of the practice, which is what the UHC mode's lava technique
makes it.
Golden apples
Which apple the bot eats is not a button. It is decided for it:
| Situation | What it eats |
|---|---|
| Pot PvP, no kit sent by another plugin | Enchanted golden apples if advanced.pot-pvp.enchanted-apples is on, plain ones otherwise. |
| UHC, no kit sent | Plain golden apples. UHC has no splash potions, so the apple is the only heal there is. |
| Either mode, with a kit sent | Whichever apple the kit actually holds — enchanted if there are any in it, plain otherwise. |
When the gear is not yours
Another plugin can spawn a bot through the API with a kit of its own, and that kit outranks everything on this page: the armour, the weapon and the off hand come from the items, and what the bot can spend during the fight is counted out of the same kit. A player's saved settings are theirs and have no say in what a duel opponent wears. See API.
