Configuring

The community library

Sharing a design by id, the browser, and how use counts work.

A design can be registered in a shared library, given an id, and imported by anybody who knows that id. It is the difference between a design being one player's and being something the server passes around.

Registering and importing

Registering a design puts it in shield_design_library with its owner and a use count. What travels is the id — a number a player can type or share in chat.

ActionWhat happens
RegisterThe design is stored under the player's name and gets an id.
Import by idThe design is copied into one of the importer's slots.
BrowseThe most-used designs, ordered by how many people have taken them.

The import prompt is asked through chat when a player imports without naming an id, and its wording is in config.yml:

prompt:
prompt_text: "{info}Enter the design ID to import {muted}(or {error}cancel{muted} to go back):"

Use counts

shield_design_uses records who has used which design, not just how many times. That is what makes the browser's ordering meaningful: a design taken by forty different players ranks above one taken forty times by its own author.

Ownership

A design in the library has an owner, and ownership decides who may edit or delete it. Importing a design does not transfer it — the importer gets a copy in their slot, and the original stays where it is.

Importing what you already own is not a second entry

Registering a design you already have in the library returns the existing id rather than creating a duplicate. That is what stops the browser from filling with forty copies of the same shield under forty ids.

Permissions still apply

An imported design is drawn from the importer's permissions, not the author's. A design using a pattern the importer does not own is not a way around the palette — which is the reason the palette can be sold at all while the library stays open.

The browser menu

menus/community_browser.yml is an ExyliaLib menu like any other: icons, slots, titles, lore, sounds and animations are all editable, and the list itself is paginated.
