Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most.
The plugin does not start
ExyliaLib and packetevents are both required. Without either, the server disables it by name.
The menu opens but a player cannot save anything
They have no slot. exyliashields.max_slots.<n> is what grants them, and a player with none of those
nodes gets zero — grant at least exyliashields.max_slots.1.
Designs disappear from shields
That is force_system, on by default: a player without exyliashields.use has their design stripped
whenever they equip a shield. Grant the node, or turn the system off in config.yml.
Half the patterns are locked
They are permissions: exyliashields.pattern.<id> and exyliashields.color.<id>, with * for all of
each. That is the palette, and it is meant to be sold.
A player's design vanished when their shield broke
It should not — the design is stored against the player, not the item, so a replacement shield comes
back decorated on the next inventory change. If it stays plain, check exyliashields.use and whether
the slot is still the active one.
Can a player wear somebody else's shield?
Not by picking the item up: the design travels with the player, not the shield. What they can do is import the design from the library by id, which copies it into one of their own slots.
An imported design looks wrong
An import is drawn from the importer's permissions. A design built with a pattern they do not own cannot be used to bypass the palette.
How deep can a design go?
max_layers in shields.yml, six by default. Every layer is a banner pattern the client renders on
every shield in view, so raising it has a real cost.
Are there placeholders?
No. This plugin registers none — what it has instead is an API for reading the active design, the slot counts and the permission checks.
Does it work on Folia?
Yes, it declares Folia support.
Where do I get support?
On the Exylia Discord.
