FAQ

The questions that come up most.

The plugin will not start

packetevents is required. ExyliaLib is a soft depend: if it is missing, the loader installs it on the first start.

The menu opens but everything is locked

A preset needs its node; a free combination needs three — the tab, the pattern and the material. See Permissions.

/armortrim says the menu is off

You are on mode: item. In that mode there is no per-player choice and no screen: trims travel as items. Switch to menu or both and reload.

The trim does not show

CheckDetail
The modeitem ignores the menu choice; menu ignores what is engraved on the armor.
The permissionWith hide-without-permission on, a trim you may no longer use stops being drawn.
CreativeA creative client sees its real armor. Everyone else still sees your trim.
The valueA preset deleted from trims.yml is not drawn until the entry comes back.

If it still does not show, /armortrimsadmin refresh <player> recomputes and re-sends.

Can armor be dropped and the trim lost?

It depends on the mode. An item trim lives on the piece, so it travels with it and is lost with it. A menu trim belongs to the player and is applied again to whatever they put on next.

Is the armor touched?

In menu mode, no: the engraving is drawn on the way to the client and the real item never carries it. In item mode one value is written — exyliaarmortrims:trim — and nothing else: enchantments, attributes, durability, custom model data and other plugins' data are untouched.

Does it overwrite a hand-forged trim?

It does not erase it: the vanilla armor keeps its own on the server. What gets drawn is this plugin's trim, and vanilla's upgrade line is hidden on the visual.

Can I add my own patterns?

You can offer any the game has by listing them in trims.yml, and rename and draw them however you like. What you cannot do is invent a pattern the server's registry does not have.

Can I translate it?

Yes. trims.yml holds pattern, material and preset names; config.yml holds the messages and the menu wording; menus/trims.yml holds every line on the screen.

Does it use up smithing templates?

No, and there is no smithing table involved. If you want the look to cost something, leave consume-trim-item on and sell the trim items.

Does it work on Folia?

Yes, it declares Folia support.

Where do I get support?

On the Exylia Discord.
