Permissions

One node per preset, one per half, and the one that opens the custom tab.

The nodes

PermissionWhat it grants
exyliaarmortrims.command.armortrimOpening the menu.
exyliaarmortrims.adminAll of /armortrimsadmin.
exyliaarmortrims.trim.<preset>That preset, on any piece.
exyliaarmortrims.trim.<preset>.<piece>That preset, on that piece only.
exyliaarmortrims.trim.*Every preset.
exyliaarmortrims.customOpening the CUSTOM tab.
exyliaarmortrims.pattern.<pattern>That pattern on the CUSTOM tab.
exyliaarmortrims.pattern.*Every pattern.
exyliaarmortrims.material.<material>That material on the CUSTOM tab.
exyliaarmortrims.material.*Every material.

Pieces: helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots. Ids are lowercase.

The halves have no `.trim.` in the middle

A preset's node is exyliaarmortrims.trim.shogun; a pattern's is exyliaarmortrims.pattern.sentry, with no trim. Two schemes because they are two different things: a preset is a named product, and the halves are the stock other things are built from.

A preset is not its halves

A preset is permitted by one node. A free combination is permitted by three: the tab, the pattern and the material.

That is deliberate:

  • Handing somebody SHOGUN does not hand them sentry and netherite to recombine with anything else.
  • Handing somebody exyliaarmortrims.custom hands them no pattern: with no halves, the tab opens locked.

Wildcards are asked explicitly

exyliaarmortrims.trim.* works even though the presets are not declared in plugin.yml. The plugin asks for the node and, failing that, for the wildcard at its level — because a Bukkit wildcard only expands on its own when every child is a registered permission, and these are named after entries in a file you edit.

Per piece

A preset can be sold per piece: exyliaarmortrims.trim.shogun.helmet allows it on the helmet only. On FULL SET the player gets the pieces they may have and no others, rather than a flat refusal.

The CUSTOM tab's halves have no per-piece variant.

When a permission goes away

Nothing is deleted. What changes is what is seen:

SettingEffect
require-permission: trueA trim the player may not use cannot be put on, by menu or by item.
hide-without-permission: trueOn top of that, armor already carrying it is shown bare.

The value stays on the armor and in the player's row, so the look comes back whole the day the rank does. Commands and the API never look at these settings.

Examples

# Everybody may open the menu
/lp group default permission set exyliaarmortrims.command.armortrim true

# A single preset as a reward
/lp group default permission set exyliaarmortrims.trim.bulwark true

# A rank with every preset
/lp group vip permission set exyliaarmortrims.trim.* true

# The top rank, with the whole custom tab
/lp group mvp permission set exyliaarmortrims.custom true
/lp group mvp permission set exyliaarmortrims.pattern.* true
/lp group mvp permission set exyliaarmortrims.material.* true

# A taster: the helmet only
/lp group default permission set exyliaarmortrims.trim.mirage.helmet true
Sell presets, keep CUSTOM for the top

A preset is a name you can advertise and one permission to grant. The CUSTOM tab is 198 combinations and three nodes: it is the top rank's reward, not the entry point.
