X-ray vision
Ores outlined through the stone for a staff member: which ones, how far, how many, and when it turns itself off.
X-ray vision outlines the ores around a staff member so they can see what a suspect is digging towards. Each ore is an invisible, glowing, client-only display entity shaped like the block; nothing is spawned on the server and nobody else sees it.
Module id xrayvision, switch modules.xray-vision, files under modules/xrayvision/. Needs
PacketEvents.
Commands
| Command | Permission | What it does |
|---|---|---|
/xray | exyliastaff.xrayvision | Toggles. /xrayvision is an alias. |
/xray on, /xray off | exyliastaff.xrayvision | Sets it. |
/xray <player>, /xray on <player> | exyliastaff.xrayvision.others | For somebody else. They are told who did it. |
The glowstone in the hotbar toggles it.
What is scanned
The square of chunks within radius of the viewer's chunk, so 3 is a 7 by 7 square, from y-radius
blocks below the feet to as many above, clamped to the world's height. Only loaded chunks are read;
the scan takes a chunk snapshot on the region thread and searches it on a worker. Moving into a new
chunk drops the outlines of chunks that left the range and scans the ones that entered; a world
change rescans everything. With refresh-seconds at 0 nothing is rescanned until the viewer changes
chunk, so an ore mined in the meantime keeps its outline until then.
max-blocks-per-player is a budget over every outline the viewer has: once it is spent, further
chunks add nothing.
When it turns off
Leaving staff mode turns x-ray off and remembers it off. Losing the permission does the same, within five seconds. A quit or a module disable turns it off without forgetting it, so it comes back on the next session with "X-ray is still on from your last session".
