Claims
One rectangle per clan: the selection tool, the price, the two protection modes, reclaiming and the map.
A clan owns at most one claim: a rectangle in one world, stored as minX, minZ, maxX, maxZ and the
height it was made at. There is no vertical bound — a claim owns its columns from bedrock to sky.
The selection tool
/clan claim gives the player a golden hoe and starts a session. It needs the CLAIM_LAND rank
permission.
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left click a block | Corner 1 |
| Right click a block | Corner 2 |
| Sneak + any click | Pay and confirm |
/clan claim again | Cancel |
Sneaking turns every click into a confirmation, on a block or in the air, left or right — so hold shift only when you mean to buy the land.
Towers mark each corner, drawn only for the player selecting: three glass blocks, then a diamond block, repeating all the way up and down the world. They are packet-level, so no block is ever placed — and only empty space is drawn into, which is why a tower breaks wherever terrain is in the way.
The tool cannot be dropped, cannot be stored (opening any inventory is blocked while a session is running), does not drop on death, and is stripped from the inventory on join, so a stale one can never follow a player around.
Price
price = base-price + (X × Z) × price-per-blockWith the defaults — 500 and 1.0 — a 20 × 20 rectangle costs 500 + 400 = 900. The money comes out of the clan bank, never out of the player's own balance.
What gets a claim refused
| Refusal | Setting |
|---|---|
| The clan already has a claim | — |
| The two corners are in different worlds | — |
| Area below the minimum | min-area, default 25 |
| Area above the maximum | max-area, default 10 000 |
| Overlaps a WorldGuard region | needs WorldGuard installed |
| Overlaps another clan's claim | — |
| Within N blocks of another clan's claim | min-separation, default 5; 0 disables |
| The bank cannot pay | — |
Protection mode
claims:
protection-mode: WORLDGUARD| Mode | Who enforces it |
|---|---|
BUILTIN | This plugin. It listens for block break, block place, right-click on doors and containers, bucket fill and empty, and item-frame breaking, and checks the claim on every one. |
WORLDGUARD | A WorldGuard region named clan_<clanId without dashes>, created and resized with the claim. Every member is a region member; the leader is the owner. |
It is the shipped default. If WorldGuard is absent, no region is created and the built-in listener
stands down anyway — claims are drawn and paid for but protect nothing. Set BUILTIN before anybody
claims.
Under BUILTIN, who may do what inside a claim is decided by three rank permissions — BUILD,
OPEN_DOORS and OPEN_CONTAINERS — and by clan membership: a player from another clan is refused
outright, whatever their own rank grants. exyliaclans.claim.bypass skips all of it.
The explosion handlers do not check protection-mode. Any block of a claim whose owner is not
raidable is removed from the blast list, under either mode. That is what makes going raidable mean
something.
Raidable claims
When the owning clan's DTR drops below zero, its claim stops protecting anything:
- Under
BUILTIN, every build, door and container check returns true for everybody. - Under
WORLDGUARD, the region'sBUILDflag is set toALLOW. - Explosions are no longer filtered out.
When the DTR regenerates back above zero, the flag is cleared and protection returns. See DTR.
Reclaim
/clan reclaimRedraws the rectangle inside the existing one. It needs the same CLAIM_LAND rank permission as a
first claim. The tool is the same, with the current bounds shown as orange glass and gold blocks; a
selection that leaves those bounds is refused.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Enabled by | reclaim-enabled, default true |
| Costs | reclaim-fee, default 0.0, plus any increase in area price |
| Refused while | the clan is raidable |
| Refused if | the new area is below min-area, or the selection leaves the old bounds |
Because the new rectangle has to fit inside the old one, its area price is never higher — so in practice
the cost of a reclaim is exactly reclaim-fee. Reclaiming shrinks a claim; it never moves or grows one.
Unclaim
/clan unclaimNeeds UNCLAIM_LAND, and is refused unless the DTR state is NORMAL — a clan cannot dodge a raid by
dropping its own land mid-fight.
The home has to be inside the claim, so removing the claim removes the home with it, and both are written to the log. Setting it again means claiming again first.
The map
/clan mapDraws every claim within map-radius (200 blocks) as coloured pillars, visible only to that player:
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green glass, emerald block | Your own claim |
| Blue glass, lapis block | An ally's |
| Red glass, redstone block | Anybody else's |
Each claim also gets a dust-particle outline traced every 30 ticks, two blocks at a time, and a glowing column at its centre.
It refreshes every five seconds and switches itself off after two minutes, or when the player runs the command again, changes world or logs out.
With no claim inside the radius nothing is drawn and the player is told the radius that was searched —
but the map is registered as open all the same, so the next /clan map reports it as hidden instead of
searching again. A third one searches.
Entering and leaving
Crossing a claim border sends a message naming the clan that owns it, on the way in and on the way out. A blocked action prints its own line, rate-limited to one every 1.5 seconds per player so a held-down left click does not fill the chat.
