Roles and rank permissions
The 24 in-clan permissions, how weight decides who may act on whom, and the default-roles block new clans are built from.
Ranks belong to the clan, not to the server. default-roles in config.yml only decides what a clan
looks like on the day it is created; after that the clan edits its own ranks in the roles menu, and
nothing in the config file reaches back into it.

is-default: false
member:
name: Member
weight: 1
permissions: []
is-default: trueThe map keys (leader, officer, member) are yours; add, rename or delete entries freely. Nothing
inside this block is ever pruned, and an entry you delete stays deleted.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
name | What players see. Cleaned on the way in: formatting is stripped, the text is trimmed, and it is cut at 32 visible characters. |
weight | Higher outranks lower. |
permissions | A list of the names below. Anything not listed is refused. An unknown name is dropped. |
is-default | Whether a new member is given this rank. Exactly one entry should be true. |
/clan create refuses and logs Cannot create a clan: default-roles is empty in config.yml. rather than
making a clan whose founder has no rank. Nothing is written back into the file — the block is yours.
This applies to the ranks players write in game as well. Creating or renaming a rank strips every colour
code and formatting tag, trims the result and truncates it at 32 visible characters; a name that is
empty once cleaned is refused with errors.role-name-invalid. The plugin's own chat prompt still says
3-16 chars — the limit the code enforces is the 32 above.
The founder is given the heaviest rank in the block, not the one named leader. If you rewrite the
block, whichever rank you weight highest is the one the founder gets.

VIEW_LOGS | The logs menu |
The menu ships with toggles for twenty-two of the twenty-four. Those two can be granted from
default-roles — so new clans get them — but an existing clan cannot tick them itself. Add them to
menus/role_manage.yml with a exyliaclans:toggle_role_perm %role_id% MANAGE_RIVALS action if you want
them clickable.
Under protection-mode: WORLDGUARD the region is what enforces the claim, and every member is a region
member. Those three permissions are read by the plugin's own listener, which stands down when WorldGuard
is in charge. See Claims.
The leader
The leader is a column on the clan, not a rank. They pass every permission check outright, whatever their rank grants, and they count as heavier than everybody for the weight comparison.
Consequences worth knowing:
- A leader cannot
/clan leave. They must/clan transferleaderor/clan disband. - Disbanding is refused unless the clan's DTR state is
NORMAL. - Removing every permission from the leader's rank changes nothing for whoever holds the leadership.
Weight
Weight is checked in one place and answers one question: may this member act on that member? The answer is yes when the actor's weight is strictly greater than the target's.
- Kick, ban, promote and demote all go through it.
- Assigning a rank is refused if the rank's weight is not below the actor's own.
/clan promoteand/clan demoteboth open the same assign rank menu; the two words are a convenience, not two different operations.- A rank's weight must be unique within the clan, and below the weight of whoever is setting it.
- The heaviest rank cannot be deleted, and neither can the last remaining one.
Weights of 100 / 50 / 1 leave room to insert a rank between two existing ones without renumbering the clan. Consecutive weights do not.
