Configuring

Classic mines

The composition, the three ways a classic mine refills, what players inside see and what happens to them, and the cycle kept across restarts.

A classic mine is refilled as a whole from its composition: every block of its area is replaced by a block drawn at random from a weighted list.

The composition

Block composition on the setup screen lists every entry with its weight and the chance it works out to: the entry's weight over the sum of all weights. Weights are relative, not percentages — stone at 70 and coal ore at 30 is the same mine as stone at 7 and coal ore at 3.

Click on an entryWhat it does
Left-clickWeight +1.
Right-clickWeight −1, never below 0.1.
Shift-left-clickAsks for an exact weight, at least 0.1.
Middle-clickOpens the entry's loot table. See Loot and effects.
Drop key (Q)Opens the entry's break effects.
Shift-right-clickRemoves the entry.

Add block asks you to pick a block; it arrives with a weight of 10. A material that cannot be placed as a block is refused. The same material should appear only once: loot and effects are looked up by material, so a second entry for it would only ever weigh into the draw.

Only the materials of the composition are the mine's own. Breaking one is a mine break, with its loot and its count towards the threshold; anything else inside the area is left alone, or refused with restrict breaking on. See Mines.

When it refills

Three things refill a classic mine:

TriggerSet inWhat it does
IntervalResets → Reset intervalRefills it every interval. 5 minutes by default, 5 seconds at the least. Accepts 90, 5m, 1h30m.
ThresholdResets → Reset thresholdRefills it early once this share of it has been mined since the last refill. 0, the default, turns it off. Left- and right-click add and remove 5%, middle-click asks for an exact value from 0 to 100.
Force resetResets → Force resetRefills it now. Needs a region and at least one block in the composition.

Every refill, whatever caused it, starts the interval over. Shortening the interval applies at once; lengthening it applies from the next refill.

The threshold counts the blocks broken through the mine since its last refill, against the number of blocks in its shape. Nothing scans the area, so a large mine costs no more to watch than a small one.

An unloaded mine waits

A refill that falls due while none of the mine's chunks are loaded is held until they all are. Nobody can mine a mine nobody is near, and filling it would load every one of its chunks at once. It happens as soon as somebody comes close enough.

The warning

Reset warning sets how long before an interval refill the players inside are told: 10 seconds by default, 0s to switch it off. When it starts, everyone inside sees the visuals.reset-warning-title title and the visuals.reset-bossbar countdown, which takes the place of the "next reset" bar until the refill.

The warning belongs to the interval. A threshold or a forced refill happens straight away.

What happens to players inside

In order, when a refill begins:

The safe teleport

If Teleports → Safe teleport is set, everyone inside is sent there first.

Loose entities are cleared

With settings.clean-entities-on-reset on (the default), dropped items, experience orbs, projectiles, minecarts, end crystals and fireworks inside the shape are removed. Mobs, armour stands, item frames and paintings are left. Players never are.

The area is refilled

Over a few ticks: all the refills running at once share about 4 milliseconds a tick, so several mines resetting together cost what one does, only spread over more ticks. A block that already is the material drawn for it is not touched.

Buried players are lifted

With Teleports → Lift buried players on (the default), anyone the new blocks buried is moved up to the first gap two blocks tall above them, at most two blocks above the mine's top. Somebody under a roof with no gap above goes to the safe teleport, or else the entry teleport.

It is announced

The sounds.reset sound plays to the players inside, other plugins receive MineResetEvent, and the reset-announcement line goes to whom announcements.reset says.

A refill overwrites everything in the shape

Every block inside the shape is redrawn from the composition, including anything a player placed there since the last refill. Keep decoration outside the selected box, or outside the sphere or cylinder cut out of it.

The announcement

announcements.reset in config.yml decides who reads that a mine refilled:

ValueWho
OFFNobody.
NEARBYPlayers within announcements.radius blocks of the mine's centre, 64 by default. The default.
SERVEREveryone online.

The default line carries a clickable [Go] that runs /mine <id>.

Entering and leaving

Walking into a classic mine plays sounds.enter, shows the visuals.entry-title title and puts up the visuals.bossbar "next reset" bar, which empties as the refill comes closer. Everything is taken down on the way out. Empty a title's or a bar's text in messages.yml to turn it off, or set a sound to "".

Teleports

ButtonClickWhat it is
Entry teleportleft / shift-leftWhere /mine <id> and the /mines menu send players. Set by standing on the spot; shift-left clears it. Without one, /mine answers "This mine has no entry point."
Safe teleportleft / shift-leftWhere players inside are sent at the start of every refill. Optional.
Lift buried playersclickToggles lifting players the refill buried. On by default.

The cycle survives a restart

Where each classic mine stands in its cycle is saved every 30 seconds and when the server stops: how many blocks were mined since the last refill, and when the next one is due. After a restart the countdown takes up where it was and the threshold keeps counting from the same share, rather than every mine starting over as if untouched. A refill that fell due while the server was off happens as soon as the mine's chunks are loaded.
