Arenas and kits
The /duelsadmin panel: creating arenas, copies and regeneration, binding an arena to a kit, building kits, their arena flags and rules, kits from other plugins, own inventory rules, and the settings screens.
Everything is set up in game with /duelsadmin (also /dueladmin), which needs exyliaduels.admin. The
panel has four cards: Arenas (with how many exist and how many are ready), Kits, Settings and
All settings. Every change is saved at once; nothing needs a reload.
An arena only provides the place. How a duel is played, its arena flags and its rules, belongs to what the players fight with: each server kit, each kit another plugin offers, and own inventory carry their own. A kit with nothing set plays as a plain duel.
Arenas
An arena is a box in a world with two spawns. It is saved as a schematic, regenerated from it after every duel, and copied into ExyliaLib's temporary world while it is busy.
Creating one
Create
Arenas → Create arena, and type an id. The arena is created empty and its hub opens.
Area
Click Area and select the whole arena with the selection wand: both corners. Selecting it saves the schematic for you.
Spawns
Click Spawn A, stand where the challenger starts and sneak-click; then Spawn B for the challenged player. The direction you face is kept. A spawn outside the box is refused.
Copies and kit
Set how many copies it may have, and optionally bind it to a kit.
An arena is ready, and duels can be sent to it, only while it is enabled, both spawns are set, its world is loaded and its schematic is saved. Anything else keeps it out, so a duel is never sent to half an arena. The list and the hub show Ready or Not ready (world or schematic missing).
The arena hub
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Status | Enables or disables the arena, and shows whether it is ready and how busy it is right now: in use, copies made and the maximum. |
| Display name | What players read in the arena picker and the request. |
| Icon | The item it is shown with in the arena picker. |
| Kit | Any kit, or one kit it is bound to. |
| Area | The box: world and size. Selecting it again saves a new schematic. |
| Spawn A, Spawn B | Where the challenger and the challenged player start. |
| Copies | How many copies may be made in the temporary world while it is busy, 0 to 64; 0 never copies. New arenas start with 4. |
| Schematic | Saves the box again as the schematic. Do it after building. |
| Teleport | Takes you to spawn A. |
| Delete arena | Deletes it, after a confirmation. |
In the arena list, left-click opens an arena and right-click deletes it, after a confirmation. Deleting keeps its schematic file; a duel being fought in it keeps it until the duel ends.
Copies and regeneration
When a duel needs an arena that is busy, a copy of its schematic is pasted in the temporary world, up to its Copies. After every duel the arena, or the copy, is regenerated from the schematic, so blocks placed in a fight are gone. On start, idle arenas are regenerated too: a crash mid-duel leaves no trace.
Renaming an arena or changing its kit keeps the copies already made; changing its box, spawns or copies drops them.
Kit arenas
An arena bound to a kit (a Mace arena, an Elytra Spear arena) only hosts duels with that kit:
- In the challenge screen, picking the arena picks its kit too.
- A challenge on any other terms is refused, on send and again on accept: "The arena … only allows the … kit."
- A random arena for a kit duel prefers the arenas bound to that kit, then the unbound ones.
- Own-inventory duels only ever use unbound arenas.
Deleting a kit unbinds every arena bound to it.
Kits
A kit is what both players wear in a server-kit duel. Kit items never leave the arena: they cannot be dropped, and they are taken off when the duel ends.
Kits → Create kit, and type an id. The new kit starts as what you are wearing, and disabled. In its screen:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Status | Enables or disables it. Only enabled kits can be picked. |
| Display name | What players read. |
| Icon | Its item in the kit picker. |
| Items | Opens the loadout editor: armour, off hand, inventory and hotbar. |
| Arena flags | The flags every duel with this kit plays under. See Arena flags. |
| Fight start | Health, food, potion effects and attributes both players start with. |
| Combat | Damage, hit delay, healing, hunger, item cooldowns and build height. |
| Win condition | Hits to win, fall depth and rounds. |
| Delete kit | Deletes it, after a confirmation. |
The kit mode is offered while at least one kit is enabled, or another plugin offers one. Who may pick a kit
is up to exyliaduels.kit.<id>: see Permissions.
Arena flags
ExyliaLib's flag editor, over the arena the duel is given: PvP, building, breaking, player-placed blocks only, interacting, timed blocks that vanish after a number of seconds, giving placed blocks back, item drop, item pickup and fall damage. A flag left on Default keeps the arena's own answer. The flags hold only the two fighters of the duel, and each duel sets them afresh, so a copy never keeps the flags of the kit fought there before.
Rules
Each kit sets how its duels are played on three pages. A rule left on its default plays as a plain duel, and everything a rule changes on a player is given back with the rest of them when the duel ends.
Fight start
| Rule | What it does |
|---|---|
| Starting health | Health both start the fight on, never above their maximum. Unset is full. |
| Starting food, Starting saturation | From 0 to 20. Unset is full food and the usual saturation. |
| Potion effects | Given the moment the fight starts, timed or for the whole duel. |
| Attributes | Base values of maximum health (vanilla 20), movement speed (0.1), attack damage (1) and knockback resistance (0 to 1). Unset keeps the player's. |
Combat
| Rule | What it does |
|---|---|
| No damage | Hits push but hurt nobody, for Sumo or Boxing. |
| Hit delay | How long a player is safe after a hit, typed as 250ms or 1s (vanilla 1s). Lower for combo kits. |
| Natural regeneration | Whether a full food bar heals. On by default. |
| Hunger | Whether the food bar goes down. On by default. |
| Ender pearl cooldown, Golden apple cooldown | Time between two of them, with the item's cooldown sweep. 0s for none. |
| Build height | How many blocks above their own spawn players may build. 0 for no limit. |
Win condition
A death always loses. On top of it:
| Rule | What it does |
|---|---|
| Hits to win | The first to land this many hits wins, for Boxing. Both counts are on the scoreboard, and the challenge reads "first to N hits". 0 turns it off. |
| Fall depth | Dropping this many blocks below their own spawn loses, for Sumo. 0 turns it off. |
| Rounds | Rounds a player must win to take the duel: 2 is a best of 3. 1 is a single fight. See Rounds. |
Kits from other plugins
Another plugin can offer kits to the challenge screen, such as the Random kit of
ExyliaRandomKitsCore. They are listed in Kits after the
server's, marked From <source>. Their items, name and icon belong to the plugin that offers them,
so their screen only sets Arena flags, Fight start, Combat and Win condition, applied after
the source has dressed the players. They cannot be deleted here, and on a server without that plugin they
are simply not offered. Their permission node is exyliaduels.kit.<source>:<kit>, such as
exyliaduels.kit.randomkits:random.
Settings
Settings is saved straight to config.yml.
| Button | Key |
|---|---|
| Own inventory | modes.own-inventory |
| Risk duels | modes.risk |
| Money bets | bets.money.enabled |
| Item bets | bets.items.enabled |
| Minimum bet, Maximum bet | bets.money.minimum, bets.money.maximum (0 for no limit) |
| Tax | bets.money.tax-percent, 0 to 100 |
| Own inventory rules | The arena flags and rules of own inventory duels. See below. |
See Configuration for what each one does. All settings, on the panel,
opens every key of config.yml in ExyliaLib's settings screens, and BACK returns to the panel.
Own inventory rules
Every duel fought with the players' own items, kept or at risk, plays under one set of Arena flags, Combat rules and a Win condition of hits to win and fall depth. The start state, effects, attributes and rounds are left out: the players' own items decide how they start, and they cannot be put back between rounds, so an own inventory duel is always a single fight.
