Getting started

First steps

Checking the bridge works from a backend, a first proxy command, a cross-server teleport, and what to look at when nothing answers.

With the proxy started and its console showing the ready on Redis line, check the other side.

1. Is a backend hearing the proxy?

ExyliaLib opens the bridge a second after the backend starts and pings the proxy, again every ten seconds until it gets an answer. On a backend console, look for:

Proxy bridge listening on Redis 10.0.0.6:6379 as "survival-1" (settings from ExyliaLib/database.yml).

and run /exylialib status: it sends a fresh ping and shows what answered, such as ExyliaProxyUtils 2.0.2 on Velocity.

If the proxy never answers, the backend says so once:

No proxy bridge answered on Redis channel "exylia:bridge:proxy". Install ExyliaProxyUtils on the proxy with the same Redis and key-prefix, or player-proxy: and console-proxy: commands and cross-server teleports will not run.

That almost always means a different Redis, a different database, or a different key-prefix on the two sides.

2. Run something on the proxy

Every Exylia plugin that runs command lists accepts two prefixes that land here:

commands:
  - "player-proxy:server lobby" # as the player, with their proxy permissions
  - "console-proxy:alert An event is starting!" # as the proxy console

A console-proxy: command is written to the proxy log with the server that sent it:

[survival-1] console: /alert An event is starting! (for Steve)

A command the proxy does not have comes back as a refusal the backend logs: the proxy did not run "/alert". See Commands.

3. A cross-server teleport

Teleport a player to somebody on another server with the plugin that offers it (ExyliaStaff's /tp, ExyliaSurvivalCore's cross-server TPA or /back). The backend finds the target through the proxy, asks the proxy to move the player, and the destination server receives where to put them when they arrive. If the move is refused, the reason comes back: an unknown server, a connection already in progress, a proxy plugin that cancelled it, or the destination refusing the player.

When nothing answers

SymptomLook at
could not start on the proxyRedis host, port, password or database in config.properties.
The backend says no bridge answeredSame Redis, same database, same key-prefix on both sides.
no server "<name>" on teleportsThe proxy's server names are not the backends' server-ids.
Answers time out after five secondsThe proxy started before Redis was up: restart it.
UNKNOWN_MODULEA backend asks for a module this proxy version does not have: update the proxy.
