Frequently asked questions

The questions that come up most.

Is ExyliaCrates free?

No. It is a premium plugin, bought on BuiltByBit and installed as a loader jar that checks the licence on every start. Bought on BuiltByBit, the licence is embedded in the jar. See Installation.

I used the crates of ExyliaSurvivalCore. What do I do?

Update ExyliaSurvivalCore to a release without the crates module and install ExyliaCrates next to it. Nothing is imported: build the crates again from /cratesadmin, and create keys with the ids the old crates had so key items already in players' hands keep opening them. Grant exyliacrates.use and exyliacrates.admin in place of the old nodes. See Installation.

The plugin does not start

packetevents is a hard dependency: without it the server never loads the plugin. The server must be Paper 1.21.1 or newer (Folia 1.21.4 or newer), and ExyliaLib 1.448.1 or newer is needed too; the loader installs it, or stages a newer one, and asks for a restart — restart once more. If the console reports a licence error, check that Exylia-Crates-Loader.jar is the jar from your purchase, and contact support if it is.

A reward changed rarity when I edited another one

A rarity follows the reward's share of the crate, read against every other reward. Adding a reward, removing one or changing a weight moves every share, so a reward can cross into the next band. The editor shows each row's share and rarity as you click; set the weights until the prizes sit where you want them. See Rewards and rarities.

A player spent a key and got nothing

A draw retries a reward whose own chance misses, but only 16 times. A crate whose rewards all have a low chance can miss every time; the key is spent and the player is told the crate has no rewards. Keep chance at 100 and use the weight to make a reward rare. See Rewards and rarities.

"Somebody is opening this crate. Wait a moment."

The crate is shared: everybody nearby watches one opening at a time on each block. Switch it to Opener only, many at once in Opening → Audience, or place it on more blocks. See Openings.

"Your keys are still loading."

A player's balance is read from the database when they join. Until it is back they cannot open a crate. It takes a moment on a healthy database; if it lasts, check the console for a database error.

Players open crates from anywhere with /crates open

That needs exyliacrates.open.remote, which everybody holds by default. Deny it to keep every crate to its block; players keep /crates, previews and their history. To lock a single crate, deny exyliacrates.crate.<id>. See Permissions.

How do I let VIPs open more at once?

Grant the rank exyliacrates.multiopen.<n>, such as exyliacrates.multiopen.25: the highest number held replaces settings.max-multi-open for that player. See Permissions.

Where are the settings in game?

Settings in the corner of /cratesadmin edits config.yml, tiers.yml and the animation files. See Crates.

How do I reset a player's keys or wipe the history?

With ExyliaLib: /exylialib resetplayer <player> ExyliaCrates @account @history for one player, or /exylialib wipe ExyliaCrates crates_openings for the whole history. See Installation.

A crate became free after I deleted a key

Deleting a key removes it from every crate's costs, and a crate left with no cost opens for free. Give it another cost in Opening cost, or disable it. See Keys and costs.

I edited hologram-lines and nothing changed

Holograms are drawn when a crate block is registered. After /cratesadmin reload, change anything in a crate's General, Opening or Presence section (or restart) to redraw its holograms. See Crates.

I edited a crate on one server of my network and the others still show the old one

Each server reads the crates and keys at startup. Restart the others. Edit crates on one server only, so an older copy is never saved back over the newer one. See Installation.

How do I give keys from my web store?

cratesadmin key virtual {username} <key> <amount> from the console. It works on offline players and on any server of the network, and the player is told on their next join. See Keys and costs.

Can I make a crate that costs money?

Yes: Opening cost → Add money, with or without keys beside it. It needs ExyliaEconomy or a Vault economy. See Keys and costs.

Can players mute the win announcements?

Yes, from the Announcements screen of /settings (Crate wins). settings.broadcast-enabled: false turns them off for everybody. See Openings.

The animation is too long

Click during it: it plays four times quicker (settings.click-speed-up). Or shorten the phases in its file under animations/, or pick another animation, or Instant. See Animations.
