Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most.
Is ExyliaTabletop free?
No. It is a premium plugin sold on BuiltByBit, installed as a loader jar that checks the licence on every start. Bought there, the licence is embedded in the jar: there is no key to enter. See Installation.
The plugin does not start
packetevents is a hard dependency: without it the server never loads the plugin. ExyliaLib 1.376.0 or
newer is needed too; the loader installs it, or stages a newer one, and asks for a restart — restart once
more. If the console reports a licence error, check that the jar is the one you downloaded from BuiltByBit.
"There is no currency you can play for"
No economy is installed, or wager.currencies lists none the player may use. Install ExyliaEconomy, Vault
with an economy plugin, or PlayerPoints, and check the ids in wager.currencies (empty offers every one).
Does anybody play against the server?
No. Every game is played player against player, and the winner takes what the other players put in, less the server fee.
Can players lose a stake to a crash or a restart?
No. Every stake is held by ExyliaLib's escrow from the moment a player sits down. On a normal stop every table, waiting or played, is called off and refunded. On a crash, whatever was still held is refunded on the next start, and what cannot be handed over at once is delivered on the player's next join.
Where is the fee paid?
Nowhere: wager.fee-percent of the pot is kept back from the winner and leaves the economy. Set it to 0
for no fee, or give exyliatabletop.bypass.fee to the players who should keep the whole pot.
A player's turn ran out. Did they lose?
No. A turn that runs out is played for them with an automatic move. What loses the match is leaving it:
/<game> leave, quitting, dying, a teleport not made by a plugin or changing world.
Can more than two players sit at a table?
In Pick a Card (up to 8), Poker, Generala and Hot Potato (up to 6), Liar's Dice and Ludo (up to 4), and Truco
(two, or four in pairs). The host picks how many a table seats, up to players in the game's module file;
/<game> duel with several names invites them all. A table starts when it is full, or earlier when its host
clicks START or types /<game> start with at least two seated (a Truco table of four only when full).
Can matches be played at a table in the world?
Yes. Set one down with /tabletopadmin table create <game> and click its chairs; players click the table to
sit down, and bystanders within tables.watch-radius watch without seeing hidden cards or dice. Set
tables.only: true to make those tables the only way to play. See
Tables in the world.
Players complain about the table announcements
Each player can mute the tabletop-tables channel in ExyliaLib's /settings. Only tables opened for
anybody are announced; invitations and tables in the world never are.
Players cannot use commands while they play
Only the game's own commands and arena.allowed-commands work during a match. Add the ones they need there,
without the slash.
The boards are too big, or cut at the edges
Lower theme.zoom to draw every board smaller. On a narrow field of view, lower theme.max-wide and
theme.max-tall. See Configuration.
Do several servers share tables?
No. Tables, invitations and matches live on the server they were opened on. Records do follow players: with servers pointing at one database, wins, losses and draws are added up atomically and never lost.
How do I open one game from my own menu or an NPC?
Use the menu action tabletop:lobby <game>, such as tabletop:lobby checkers, which opens its lobby as
/checkers does. From code, TableService.openLobby. See API.
