Killcam

Compatibility

Deaths other plugins are in charge of, the viewer held while watching, vanished players, disabled worlds, ExyliaKillEffect, PacketEvents and Folia.

A killcam takes a player somewhere else for a few seconds. ExyliaKillCam is built so that never fights with another plugin: it leaves alone the deaths others are in charge of, and while somebody watches, it holds them so nothing else picks them up halfway.

Deaths another plugin is in charge of

While deaths.skip-held-players is on (the default), a death gets no killcam when:

  • another plugin holds the player through ExyliaLib's sessions: a duel, an event, a match, a queue, an arena — anything that has claimed them;
  • another plugin has claimed what they drop through ExyliaLib, as a duel that keeps its own loot does;
  • they are watching a replay of any kind.

Those deaths belong to that plugin, which usually has its own ending to show. Keep the option on.

Even with it off, a killcam is never shown to a player who is held at the moment it would start: a player in AUTO simply stays put, and /killcam answers "You cannot watch a killcam right now." Turning it off only means the death is kept, so /killcam can show it once the other plugin lets them go.

The viewer is held

While a player watches, ExyliaKillCam holds them under the claim killcam in ExyliaLib's sessions. To every other plugin that asks, they are busy: a duel request or a queue never takes them from the stage.

When another plugin must have them anyway, it asks ExyliaKillCam to let go: the killcam ends, the player is put back where they were and gets the summary, and the other plugin carries on. The claim is released whenever the killcam ends, however it ends.

Vanished players

With recording.hide-vanished on (the default), players in vanish are never in a recording: nobody sees staff in a killcam, not even the staff member's victim. ExyliaLib reads vanish from the vanished metadata most vanish plugins set (SuperVanish and PremiumVanish among them), and from EssentialsX and CMI.

A vanished player who is killed gets no killcam themselves: there are no frames of them to show.

Disabled worlds

deaths.disabled-worlds lists worlds, by name and in any case, where nobody gets a killcam. A death there is not kept, so /killcam cannot show it either.

ExyliaKillEffect

With ExyliaKillEffect 1.9.0 or newer installed and kill-effects.replay on, the killcam ends on the killer's kill effect, drawn again at the body:

  • only the effect that really played on this victim, within 15 seconds of the death, is shown — a kill without an effect shows none;
  • it is drawn for the viewer alone; nobody else on the server sees it;
  • the viewer's own particle choice in ExyliaKillEffect is respected: on NONE or SELF_ONLY (only their own kills) they see nothing;
  • older versions of ExyliaKillEffect are skipped without a word, and the killcam ends on the body.

PacketEvents

Every body, arrow and swing in a killcam is a packet, and the skip button is drawn by packets too. Without PacketEvents the plugin still starts and still keeps deaths, but never shows a killcam: /killcam says "Killcams cannot be shown on this server. PacketEvents is missing."

Folia

ExyliaKillCam runs on Folia (folia-supported: true). Every step runs on the thread that owns the player or the place: the respawn, the shot, the cut and the kill effect at the body. ExyliaLib's black box and stages work per region there.
