3D selector
The effect selector on the centre stage: an arc of effects in the world, each one flown in front of the player before they wear it.
The 3D selector is the effect menu drawn in the world instead of in an inventory. An arc of effects stands in front of the player, the one they look at is named above it, and clicking one fires it on a small stage in the middle: the launch, the trail along its flight and the impact where it lands. They see the effect before they wear it, and nothing is kept until they press EQUIP.
It is built from display entities and packets only: no resource pack, nothing other players see.
Opening it
| Way | What it takes |
|---|---|
/arrows | menu.style: SPATIAL in config.yml. With CLASSIC (the default) it opens the classic menu. |
/arrows 3d | Nothing: it always opens the 3D one. Alias: spatial. |
| A placed selector | /arrowsadmin spatial place sets one down where you stand. Its hologram opens it; clicking walks the player onto the spot. |
/arrowsadmin menu open <player> | Opens whichever menu.style picks, for someone else. |
The same checks run every way in: the menu is off on a bow server (menu-disabled), and an effect
the player wears without the rank it needs is taken off first, as the classic menu does.
A player whose client is older than 1.21.4 (joining through ViaBackwards) cannot draw it. Every way of
opening it opens the classic menu for them instead, so menu.style: SPATIAL is safe on a server that
lets old clients in.
Using it
Look and click
Looking at an effect names it, with its rarity and whether it is worn, owned, for sale or locked. Resting on one shows a short description. Clicking one tries it: it plays on the stage at once.
Equip or buy
The one filled button is the next step: EQUIP for an effect they own, BUY with its price for one the shop sells, then CONFIRM to pay. A locked effect that is not for sale says how it is had instead.
Leave
Sneaking, or LEAVE, closes it. Closing on an effect tried but not equipped says
spatial.discarded and keeps what they had.
The tabs across the top filter by category, with All and the favourites (★) beside them; the mouse wheel pages the arc. The icon row under the button stars the effect, takes the worn one off, reverts what was tried, turns random on or off, replays the preview, opens the crate (with the keys held), shows the tour again, and leaves.
While it is open the player is held still and nobody else is drawn, so the stage is theirs alone.
The rules are the classic menu's: effects they own come first, behaviour.hide-without-permission
hides locked ones (except on the favourites tab), and the feature
nodes apply. A player without
exyliarrows.buy sees no price; random, favourites and the crate answer feature-locked without
theirs. Without exyliarrows.preview clicking an effect still picks it, but nothing plays on the
mannequin. A locked effect is marked with a cross (✘); the padlock used before 1.7.1 has no glyph in
the vanilla font and drew as a box. Locked lines under spatial.stage still as shipped are changed on
update, edited ones are left alone.
The guided tour
The first time a player opens it, a short tour points at the shelf of effects, the preview, the
button and the icons. ? Help shows it again, and /arrowsadmin spatial tour <player> shows it on
their next open.
Setting it up
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/arrowsadmin spatial place | Sets a fixed selector down where you stand, facing the way you face. |
/arrowsadmin spatial remove | Removes the one nearest you, up to four blocks away. |
/arrowsadmin spatial edit | Opens it to move its pieces: aim at one, click, then the mouse wheel moves it. |
/arrowsadmin spatial tour <player> | Shows the tour to a player again. |
Where every piece stands is spatial/effects.yml: the board's distance from the eyes, its height, the
tabs, the title, the description, the button, the icons and the stage. The file only places things.
Every word on it is under spatial in lang/<code>/messages.yml, so it follows the server's language
like the rest — see Configuration. When a release
changes the shipped layout it raises menu-version, and a copy you edited is offered the new one in
/exylialib updates rather than overwritten.
/arrowsadmin reload re-reads the layout, and an open selector shows the new catalogue, prices and
words at once.
crate.opening: SPATIAL gives the crate the same treatment: a crate in front of the player, a reel
slowing onto the prize, and the effect won played on a mannequin. See The opening in
3D.
