Supply drops

Crates that fall on a parachute into envoy areas on a timetable: tiers and their loot, envoys, timings, what players see, the crate rules and the staff commands.

Supply drops are crates that fall out of the sky on a parachute and land as a real container anybody can run for. Each one is announced first, lands where a beam marked the spot, stays locked for a moment and then opens to whoever gets there. It vanishes with whatever is left once somebody empties it or its time runs out.

Everything is set up in game with /supplydropsadmin (alias /envoysadmin), or the Supply drops card of /warzoneadmin. Two kinds of thing live there:

  • Tiers: the kinds of crate. A name, a weight, a loot table, a look and, if you want, their own timings.
  • Envoys: the areas crates fall into. An area, how many crates fall per run, which tiers it rolls and a timetable.
Nothing drops without an envoy

The timetable, /supplydrop start and Drop one now all pick their spots inside an envoy's area. Until one envoy has an area, only /supplydrop here drops anything.

A drop, step by step

PhaseWhat happens
AnnouncedA chat announcement goes out, a beam of light rises over the spot and a boss bar counts down. 60 seconds by default.
FallingThe crate comes down under its tier's parachute, timed to touch down on the last second.
LockedThe crate is now a real block with a hologram over it. Opening it is refused with the time left. 20 seconds by default.
OpenAnybody can loot it. The first player to open it is announced.
GoneEmptied, it goes as soon as the inventory is closed. Otherwise it vanishes with what is left when its despawn time, counted from the landing, runs out. 300 seconds by default.

Tiers

A network with no tiers yet gets three to start from, so the first envoy has something to drop:

TierWeightChanceCanopyLoot
common7070%White woolIron, gold, bread, arrows, ender pearls, experience bottles, sometimes diamonds.
rare2525%Magenta woolDiamonds, emeralds, golden apples, experience bottles, netherite scrap, totems.
legendary55%Yellow woolDiamonds, netherite, enchanted golden apples, totems, a beacon, an elytra.

Tiers lists every tier, heaviest first, with its weight, its chance against the other enabled tiers and how many loot lines it has. The emerald creates one (type an id such as legendary); left-click a tier to open it, right-click to delete it.

ButtonWhat it does
StatusTurns the tier on or off. A disabled tier is never rolled.
NameWhat players read in announcements and over the crate. Palette tokens such as {highlight} work.
WeightHow likely it is against the other enabled tiers: 70, 25 and 5 give 70%, 25% and 5%. A weight of 0 never comes up.
Loot tableThe items a crate holds, in ExyliaLib's loot editor.
CanopyThe block the parachute is drawn with.
GlowThe outline colour of the beam, the falling crate and the unlock burst.
Crate blockWhat the crate lands as. Left-click picks a block, right-click follows crate-block in the config (a barrel). It must hold items: a barrel, a chest, a shulker box.
TimingsIts own announce, unlock and despawn times. See Timings.
Preview the fallPlays this tier's fall where you stand, for you alone.
DeleteRemoves the tier and its loot table, after a confirmation.

Each line of the loot table is rolled on its own, as a percentage chance, with an amount between its minimum and maximum. When nothing comes up, one line is given anyway, so a crate never opens empty unless its table is. The items land in random slots. Loot is items only: the editor offers no command or money lines.

Envoys

An envoy is an area of the map where several crates fall together. It belongs to the server it was created on. A run picks a spot for each crate inside the area, rolls a tier for each from the ones the envoy allows, announces them in one message and lands them all at the same moment.

Create it

/supplydropsadmin → Envoys → the emerald. Type an id such as desert-camp and the envoy's screen opens.

Select the area

Left-click Area. You are handed a golden axe: left-click a block for the first corner, right-click another for the second, then shift + left-click to confirm.

Choose the crates and tiers

Crates is how many fall each run (4 by default, up to 64). Spacing is the fewest blocks between two crates of the same run (24). Tiers: left-click adds or removes one tier, right-click allows every tier again, which is the default.

Give it a timetable

Timetable opens ExyliaLib's schedule editor: clock times, days, a repeat every so often inside a window, and how many players must be online. Once saved, the envoy runs by itself.

Try it

Run it now drops it at once, as if its timetable had fired. Right-click Area to teleport to its middle.

The corners set the height too

Crates land on ground that lies between the heights of the two corners, searched from the upper one down. Click one corner at or below the ground and the other well above it, or just under the roof for an area inside a building or a cave. Two corners clicked on the same flat ground leave no room for a crate, and every run answers No free spot found.

The other buttons: Status turns the envoy on or off (a disabled envoy never runs, by timetable or by hand), Name is what players read when it starts, Timings holds its own times and Delete removes the envoy, its area and its timetable and takes its crates away, after a confirmation. In the Envoys list, shift-click a row to run it now and right-click to delete it.

Where crates land

A spot is a random column of the area with solid ground (not bedrock) and two blocks of air on top, so never in water or lava. It must be outside every ExyliaLib region, such as Warzone's own regen zones and duel rooms, outside every ExyliaProtections claim, and at least Spacing away from the other crates of the run. Each crate tries up to attempts (20) columns; a run that finds fewer spots than it wants drops the ones it found.

The spot is checked again on landing. If somebody built there in the meantime, the crate lands on top, up to 8 blocks higher but never above the area; two crates of the same run on one column stack. A spot claimed since, or with no room left, calls the crate off with an announcement. A block is never written over.

The timetable

A timetable line that fires while the envoy still has crates out from its last run does nothing, and it is not retried: the next run is the next time the timetable names. The schedule form also offers the envoy-idle gate, which says the same thing. Times follow the timezone of ExyliaLib's config.yml.

Timings

Every drop takes three times: how long it is announced, how long it stays locked, and how long it stays after landing. Each is taken from the first place that sets it:

DropAnnounceUnlock and despawn
/supplydrop start, /supplydrop here, Drop one nowThe time typed in the command, then the tier, the envoy, the config. The tier, then the envoy, then the config.
An envoy runThe envoy, then the config, so every crate lands together. The tier, then the envoy, then the config.

On a Timings screen, left-click sets a time (typed as 30s, 1m or 2m30s) and right-click clears it, so the drop falls back to the next place in the table; a time taken from the config reads (config). An envoy run is announced for at least 5 seconds, and a crate always stays at least 10 seconds after landing. Keep the despawn time longer than the unlock time.

What players see

MomentAnnouncement
One crate announcedIts tier, x, z, world and countdown, with a pointer to /supplydrop.
An envoy announcedThe envoy's name, how many crates, the world and the countdown.
A crate landsIts tier, x, y, z and when it unlocks.
First player opens itWho reached it first.
Its time runs outThe crate vanished with what was left.
Its spot was takenThe crate was called off.

Announcements reach every player who has not muted them, and the console. Each player mutes them in /settings, under Announcements, as Supply drops.

While a drop is on its way, every player in its world sees one boss bar for the crate closest to them: its tier, its x, z and the countdown. During an envoy, that is how each player knows which crate to run for. Muting does not hide the bar; empty its text in the messages file to turn it off.

The beam, the fall, the landing, the unlock and the vanishing are display entities and particles, drawn for players within view-radius (160 blocks) of the spot. A player who walks into range or logs back in during the countdown still gets the beam. A crate dropping under a roof, anything within 12 blocks above the spot, skips the parachute and simply lands. A hologram over a landed crate shows the tier and the countdown to unlock, then to vanishing.

/supplydrop (aliases /drop, /supplydrops) is open to every player: the tier and coordinates of the crate that is out (with several, the one closest to its next moment), or when the next envoy falls.

The crate

A landed crate cannot be broken, blown up, drained by a hopper or sold with a sell wand. When the module stops, every crate is taken away with what is inside; one left standing by a crash is removed on the next start.

The first player to open a crate counts the supply_drops.reached statistic for ExyliaSurvivalCore's missions and leaderboards, when it is installed. Who opened a crate and what each player took are written to the audit log (/exylialib logs, actions supply-drop-open and supply-drop-take).

Animation

Animation holds the five phases every drop is drawn with: Marker (the beam), Fall, Impact, Unlock and Vanish. Each opens ExyliaLib's sequence editor and saves into the module's config.yml. In the lines, %glow%, %parachute% and %crate% become the tier's colour, canopy block and crate block, and %seconds% how long the marker lasts.

Staff commands

CommandWhat it does
/supplydrop start [tier] [announce]One crate in a random enabled envoy's area. Without a tier it rolls from that envoy's tiers. It does not count as the envoy's run.
/supplydrop here [tier] [announce]One crate on the block you stand on, without the region and claim check. In game only.
/supplydrop envoy <envoy>Runs an envoy now.
/supplydrop stopTakes every crate away at once, falling ones included, with what is inside.

announce is a length such as 10s or 2m; to give one, name the tier first. A tier named in a command drops even when it is disabled. On the admin screen, Drop one now is start and Take every crate away is stop, with a confirmation. All of them need exyliawarzone.supplydrops.admin; see Commands and Permissions.

Limits and edge cases

  • At most max-active (16) crates are out at once on a server, falling and landed, envoys included. A run is cut down to the room left.
  • If every tier an envoy allows is disabled or deleted, its runs drop nothing. Right-click Tiers to allow them all.
  • Tiers are shared by every server on the same database; envoys and their crates belong to one server. A tier edited on one server reaches the others when they restart.
  • The look, the default timings and the limits are in modules/supply-drops/config.yml, also editable from the Settings button of /warzoneadmin. See Configuration.
