Auctions

Timed auctions in any currency: opening one, the bid steps, anti-snipe, auto-bids held up to a ceiling, buy-it-now, how an auction ends, the countdown and the settings.

An auction sells to whoever bids highest before the time runs out, in whichever of the server's currencies the seller chose. Every bid is paid when it is placed and held by the auction until it is beaten or the auction ends, so a bid is a promise the bidder cannot walk away from.

Module id auctions, file modules/auctions/config.yml, command /auction (also /auctions).

Opening an auction

FromHow
The Sell button of /auctionHold the item, pick a currency if there is a choice, then fill the form: starting price, buy-it-now (optional) and hours.
/auction sell <start> [hours] [buyout] [currency]Opens it at once, with the stack in your main hand. hours defaults to default-hours; a buyout of 0 is none.

There is no review screen: the auction opens as soon as the checks pass. From the form, a buy-it-now price far below the 7-day average asks once more.

The checks: a currency the server has, an item in hand, not in blocked-materials, not damaged unless allow-damaged-items, not heavier than max-item-kilobytes, a start of at least min-start-price (the currency's smallest amount for any currency but the default), a buyout above the start, hours between min-hours and max-hours, and fewer running auctions than the player's limit.

listing-fee-percent of the starting price is charged when the auction opens and is not refunded, not even when nobody bids. A starting price at or above broadcast-opened-above is announced.

Bidding

/auction lists every running auction, ending soonest first; the sort also cycles Newest, Cheapest and Most expensive, and the search matches the material, the item's name and the seller. Click one to open its bid screen: current bid, next bid, how many bids, the leader, the time left and your own ceiling, updated while it is open.

ButtonWhat it does
BidBids exactly the next bid the button shows. If the auction moved in the meantime the click is refused and nothing is charged.
Custom bidType any amount from the next bid up.
Auto-bidSets a ceiling: see below.
Buy it nowOnly when the auction has a buyout. Pays it and ends the auction at once.

Bidding, auto-bids and buy-it-now need exyliamarket.auctions.bid.

Looking inside

A shulker box or bundle up for auction can be opened before bidding: shift-click it on the board, or click the item at the top of its bid screen. A read-only view shows what it holds, boxes within boxes included, and the way out returns to wherever you came from.

The bid screen's layout changed in 1.1.0 for this, so bid.yml carries a menu-version: an edited copy is replaced by the new one on update and yours is kept next to it.

The next bid

With no bids, the next bid is the starting price. After that it is the top bid plus the larger of min-bid-increment-percent of it and min-bid-increment. The absolute step is in the default currency; in any other currency the step is at least that currency's smallest amount. The seller cannot bid.

A bid or ceiling at or above the buyout price is a buyout, at the buyout price.

Auto-bids

An auto-bid is the most you are willing to pay. The whole ceiling is taken from your balance at once and held, and the auction answers for you:

  • On an auction with no bids, it stands at the starting price with you leading.
  • Beating the leader's ceiling, it stands one step above the beaten ceiling, never above yours.
  • Not beating it, the leader's ceiling answers at once, one step above you, and your money comes straight back. Equal ceilings go to whoever set theirs first.

The leader may raise or lower their ceiling without moving the price, as long as it stays at or above the next bid. When the auction ends, everything held above the winning price is refunded.

Being outbid

Your held money comes back at once, and you are told on whichever server you are, or on your next join, with a [BID AGAIN] link that runs /auction view <id>. With feedback.outbid-action-bar on, an action bar says it too. The seller hears about each new bid.

Anti-snipe

A bid that moves the price with less than anti-snipe-seconds left (30 by default) pushes the end back to that many seconds from now, so the last word is not whoever clicked last. A leader only raising their own ceiling does not extend it.

The countdown

For the last feedback.auction-countdown-seconds (60 by default, 0 for none) a boss bar counts down for the leader and for everybody who bid on it on this server since the server started. The seller has none.

How it ends

The sweep runs every second, so an auction ends to the second.

EndingThe itemThe money
With bidsTo the winner: inventory, the rest to /collect.The seller is paid the winning bid minus sales-tax-percent. What the winner held above it comes back.
Bought nowTo the buyer. As above; the previous leader is refunded and told.
No bidsBack to the seller. The fee is not refunded.

The other bidders get a lost line in their history. A win at or above broadcast-above is announced.

Your auctions and bids

CommandScreen
/auction mine (also /auction selling)What you are running, against your limit. Click one to cancel it — only while it has no bids: an auction with bids runs to the end.

History, from /auctionAuctions you won, lost and sold.

Staff

/auctionadmin (also /auctionsadmin) lists every running auction, ending soonest first. Left-click removes one after a confirmation, even with bids: the item goes back to the seller and the top bidder's held money is refunded, and both are told. Right-click opens its line in the market log.

CommandWhat it does
/auctionadmin remove <id>Removes one auction.
/auctionadmin clear <player>Removes every auction a player is running.

Both ask for a confirmation first, need exyliamarket.auctions.admin and must be run by a player in game.
