Playing

Joining and leaving, rolls and drafts, rerolls, the hotbar layout, deaths and drops, assists, streaks and kit evolution, anti-abuse and the nemesis.

Everything a player does starts from /rk (also /randomkits), the hub: Play, Leave arena, Profile, Kits, Hotbar layout, Leaderboards, Progression, Reroll kit, the running or next Event and the Season.

Joining and leaving

/rk play joins any ready arena, /rk play <arena> that one. The Play button opens the arena list.

  • The player's things are saved by ExyliaLib's stays, they are moved to a spawn, emptied there and put in survival. A player already in an arena, or combat tagged, is refused.
  • /rk leave takes them out and gives everything back exactly as they came in.
  • Quitting is never a combat log: their things come back on their next join. A crash does the same.
  • While in an arena only the commands in allowed-commands run (by default rk, randomkits and the private message commands), so /rk leave always works.
  • Walking out of the arena's boxes is not allowed, and neither is a teleport out of them. Containers cannot be opened (a crafting table can), kit items cannot be thrown away by hand, and nobody outside an arena picks up a kit item left on the floor.

On a network, /rk play may send the player to another server of the group first. See Network and ExyliaDuels.

The roll

A roll first picks a rarity by its weight, then a kit of that rarity by the kit's own weight. Only the kits in the arena's pool, enabled, and whose permission the player has (if the kit asks for one) can be rolled; a rarity with no such kit is skipped and its weight shared among the others.

RuleDefaultWhat it does
Anti-repeatroll.anti-repeat: 3A player never gets one of their last 3 kits again while other kits can be rolled.
Bad luck protectionroll.pity: {epic: 10, legendary: 40}After 10 rolls in a row below epic the next roll is at least epic; after 40 below legendary, at least legendary.

The rolled kit's title shows its name and rarity, and the rarity's announce and feedback play (see Rarities). Every kit a player has rolled counts as discovered: /rk kits shows the catalogue with each kit's chance for that player.

Random and Draft

Each arena has a roll mode:

  • Random gives the rolled kit at once.
  • Draft offers roll.draft-size (3) different kits to pick from, in a menu or as clickable chat buttons (roll.draft.display: MENU or CHAT). Nobody can hurt a player while they pick. After roll.draft-timeout (10s) the first kit is taken. /rk draft reopens the menu after closing it.

During a Kit of the Hour event everyone gets the event's kit: no roll and no draft. See Events and seasons.

Rerolls

/rk reroll (or the hub's Reroll kit) rolls the kit again, for one of the life's rerolls, while the life is fresh: within rerolls.window in progression.yml (10s) after spawning, and before dealing any damage. Rerolls come from the rerolls account upgrade and the Second Opinion perk; a player without any has none. In a Random arena the player is told how many they have left after each spawn.

The kit on the body

Every slot of the kit rolls on every life: whether it appears, which variant, how many, and which enchantments. See Kits.

Layouts. Armour and the offhand always go to their own slot. Every other item goes where the player's layout puts its role (WEAPON, BOW, PEARLS, POTIONS, FOOD, BLOCKS, ARROWS or any custom role). A player arranges it once and every kit lands that way, whatever it rolled:

  • /rk layout opens the editor: click a role to pick it up, click a slot to put it there, then Save.
  • /rk layout save takes where the current kit's items are now, in an arena, as the layout.
  • /rk layout reset forgets it.

Without a saved layout, the layout map of config.yml is used (weapon 0, bow 1, pearls 2, potions 3, food 7, blocks 8, arrows 9); roles not listed fill the first free slot.

Spawn protection. A new life cannot be hurt for the arena's spawn protection (3s for a new arena), plus the spawn-protection upgrade where upgrades count. Attacking ends it. Lives start at a random spawn among the half farthest from the other players.

Deaths

A death in an arena never really happens: lethal damage is cancelled, the kill is credited, and the player is healed and sent to a spawn with a new kit. A real death that gets past it (/kill, another plugin) is counted the same, with nothing dropped.

  • The killer is whoever struck the last blow, or the last player who hurt the victim within assists.window (15s). Falling below the arena's lowest box by more than death.void-margin (2 blocks) is a death too, credited to that last attacker.
  • Drops follow death.drops: NONE, CONSUMABLES (the roles in death.consumable-roles: food, potions, pearls, arrows and blocks) or ALL. They are removed after death.drop-lifetime (10s).
  • Assists go to every other player who dealt at least assists.minimum-percent (25%) of the damage the victim took within the window.

Streaks and evolution

Each kill adds one to the life's streak; a death ends it.

  • Streaks in streaks.milestones (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50) are announced to the arena.
  • Ending a streak of at least streaks.end-minimum (5) is announced and runs on-streak-end for the killer.
  • Evolution: at the streaks of evolution.steps the kit the player wears is upgraded in place. Each step is applied once, on the kill that reaches it, and lasts until the next death.
StreakDefault step
3A golden apple.
5+1 level on every enchantment of the gear worn and held.
10Another +1 enchantment level, and Speed until the next death.

A step has streak, enchant-bonus, items (item, amount, role), effects (NAME|LEVEL|SECONDS) and feedback (ExyliaLib sequence lines). evolution.kits gives a kit its own steps by kit id.

Anti-abuse

A kill that breaks one of these rules earns no rewards and no stats for either player. The killer is told, and the kill is written to the staff audit log (/exylialib logs).

KeyDefaultRule
anti-abuse.same-addresstrueKiller and victim share an address or account. A database that cannot answer counts as the same.
anti-abuse.repeat-limit3One killer killed the same victim more than this many times within repeat-window (10m). 0 turns it off.
anti-abuse.fresh-spawn3sThe victim spawned less than this long ago.
anti-abuse.afk60sThe victim had not moved for this long. 0s turns it off.

The nemesis

A player who kills you at least nemesis.min-kills (2) times becomes your nemesis: the most kills wins, the most recent a tie. Each player keeps track of nemesis.tracked (5) rivals. Killing your nemesis is revenge: it runs on-revenge and settles the score. Getting a new nemesis runs on-nemesis-new for the victim.

Arena blocks

Inside the PvP box players may place blocks, which disappear after arenas.placed-blocks (30s; 0s keeps them until the next reset), and only blocks players placed can be broken. The arena's reset puts every block back from its schematic. See Arenas.
